Sodium bicarbonate decomposes into sodium carbonate, water and carbon dioxide when it comes into contact with high temperature flue gas. Sodium carbonate has very high reaction activity at the moment of formation, and can react with acidic substances in flue gas efficiently, thus helping coking plant to remove 95% of sulfur dioxide and 99% of hydrogen chloride in waste gas with high efficiency and low cost. The residue is a small amount of dry solid, non-toxic and non irritating.
